Do you think it's important for parents to to simply "say" what's right? Or do you think that parents need to also set an example with their actions as well?

I really think that some parents have a do as I say, not as I do mentality.

I always get so annoyed when I see parents making their kids wear bike helmets when the parents don't actually wear them themselves. That kind of thing grates on my last nerve.

When we go bike riding, my husband and I both wear helmets. My daughter, who sits in one of those little cart things that get pulled behind bikes, wears a helmet as well. I can't imagine telling her she had to wear a helmet but mommy and daddy didn't. Wouldn't make much sense. Our noggins are comprised of the same thing.

I think it is very important for parents to set the example and not have the "do as I say, not as I do" attitude! The point about parents not wearing helmets while biking, but making the children wear them definitely does not set a good example. Also, I have observed parents who raise their voices loudly, or even yell at their children because the child is either misbehaving or not acting the way the parent expects them too, yet these same parents get angry if that child raises their voice or "yells". Children, especially young toddler aged children are never going to be "perfectly" behaved and to use Purple Pony's expression, it grates on my last nerve when I hear a parent yell or raise their voice to their toddler aged child for something simple, like not sitting still or pouting. Now, if they were to try to run into the street or be in danger, by all means raise your voice and yell, otherwise it isn't necessary to do in my opinion.

I agree to that..actually not only for parents but as a responsible adult we should set an example for the younger generations
