Do you ride with a helmet? If so, why? If not, why? Also what's your chosen discipline?

I ride dressage, and always wear a helmet. I don't fully understand people who choose not to wear helmets because they're "just riding on the flat" or because they "trust their horse". Crap happens--even when riding at the walk on the sanest horse around.

I also don't get people who think helmets are "uncomfortable". There are so many brands in so many sizes and shapes that if people would take the time to look, they'd find something that they could wear comfortably.

But to each their own, I guess. They say stupid hurts, and I beleive that it should.

I ride with a helmet. On the flat, trails and jumping. I have seen many falls that without a helmet the person would have been severly hurt. One of those times was myself, falling off the getting kicked in the back of the helmet...

I always wear a helmet as I can't predict the actions of the horse, the height of the horse and the power in which a horse can kick.

As an avid motorsports rider and safety instructor for ATVs, I can tell you that if your helmet isnt comfortable, it isnt on right / doesnt fit. Equine helmets are not nearly as stuffy as motocross helmets or street bike helmets that are full faced!
